Otwarte kontenery platformy nie posiadają ścian bocznych ani czołowych i to odróżnia je od kontenera standardowego. Ich konstrukcja jest stalowa – bardzo wytrzymała, o dużej nośności, dzięki czemu jest to stabilne podłoże dla ciężkich towarów.
